INVITATION to participate: STUDIO CERRILLO & ORQUÍDEAS MOXVIQUIL have formed to promote a new Sculpture Garden at OM

Galeria Studio Cerrillo and Orquídeas Moxviquil have formed a committee to invite artists to participate in a project of great importance in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas Mexico. Orquídeas Moxviquil, OM, is a botanical garden of dedicated to preserve and display the imperiled natural ecosystems of Chiapas. OM has been rescuing orchids and other plants that have been considered trash by farmers, timber concerns and ordinary land owners for 16 years. The collection is now housed in the reserve of PRONATURA SUR in the northern part of the Jovel Valley. The jardin is completing the final aspects of the first stage of construction; it is for this reason that Galeria Studio Cerrillo and OM have come together to seek donations of sculptures to adore five areas of the project.

We are asking you and friends you may know, to considering donating one of your sculptures so that visitors may see original art as a integral part of the treasure of nature. We at OM sincerely hope that you may wish to assist us in creating the preeminent botanical garden in Chiapas and Mexico. We sincerely believe that only through the creative genius of humankind can we appreciate the natural beauties that surround us daily. The organic beauty of plants and the creative art of humankind are perfect partners. It is this blending that we wish to display at OM.

The gardens are a perfect location for environmental sculptural art to be enjoyed.

The project is seeking submission of photos of your sculptures so that we may select five for the jardin.

The sculptures need to fulfill these requirements:

1. The sculptures can be shown outdoors without damage. The climate in San Cristobal is cool and wet for 6 months then cold to hot and very dry for six months. The works will be in direct sunlight.

2. Material of art can be anything that will withstand the climatic conditions. 3. Concepts are open as we do not want to limit the creativity of expression.

4. The size requirements are maximum of 80/80/200cm.

5. Work must be on site in San Cristobal by 1 September 2010.

OM and Galeria Studio Cerrillo will promote the collection in various local and national publications. We will refer all inquires to the participating artist and assist in sales without any commission. We cannot at this time offer payment for the art, we know this is asking a great favor, but we sincerely believe that with these sculptural additions to OM we will have an ideal balance of art by humankind and the art of natural, thus giving our guests a unique experience. We can offer assistance in shipping the art of $50 USD. We will maintain the art in excellent conditions and if after 5 months or sooner you request your art we will return the work with the help of $50 USD.

Again we realize this is a rather unusual request and one that may seem a bit "off the wall", but we need your help in creating a unique, interesting and meditative botanical garden that promotes the beauty of nature and the creative power of humankind.
